On March 10, 2025, a daring daylight robbery occurred at a Tanishq jewellery showroom in Ara, Bihar, where six armed men looted jewellery and cash valued at approximately ₹25 crore. The assailants, posing as customers, overpowered the security guard and seized staff phones before ransacking the showroom's two floors.
Bihar Police responded swiftly, intercepting three motorcycles later that day. Two suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended following a high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire, during which they sustained leg injuries. From the suspects, police recovered two bags containing jewellery worth ₹15 crore, along with two pistols and live ammunition.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vishal Gupta from Dighwara, Saran district, and Kunal Kumar from Semra, Sonepur. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining four suspects involved in the heist.
